Young people often eagerly look forward to furnishing their own apartment or home. Single people have only their own needs and tastes to consider, and can have free reign on their decorating styles. A single man is no exception, and can have many options when choosing bedroom furniture for their bachelor bedroom.
The needs of a single man are really no different than for anyone else. A bed, dresser, and nightstands are the basic pieces that will be required. While many young men accept cast-off furniture from their relatives, or purchase items cheaply offered at yard sales, many also wish to purchase new items that will give their place a feeling of "home".
No matter how they obtain the furniture, some main considerations in furnishing the bedroom are:
o What type and size of bed to use?
o What type dresser to use?
o Are nightstands needed?
o What type of lighting is needed?
Choosing the bed is an important decision. How we sleep can determine the quality of the day that follows, and the success or failure to live up to our own potential. A good, restful night's sleep results in quicker thinking, effective problem solving, and a happier self. On the other hand, a poor night's sleep can leave one feeling dull, listless and non-productive. It is easy to see, then, how having the right bed is a crucial step in achieving success in daily life. And there is little argument that young men enjoy their sleep!! A twin-sized bed may not allow enough room for a comfortable night's sleep, while a king-sized bed may offer too much space.
Young men do, however, care a great deal about their own appearance. Their income may be devoted, to some extent, to their wardrobe, which means they will need to have adequate space to store it. Armoires can be of great help if the bedroom is not equipped with closet space, and also provide drawer space for foldable clothes. At least one dresser will be needed, as bachelors spend a great deal of time in jeans and t-shirts, not to mention underwear and socks. The only choice left will be how many drawers will be needed.
Nightstands are handy items as bedroom furniture, but may not seem necessary to a bachelor. Standing at the ready to hold glasses, alarm clocks, keys and loose change, at least one nightstand would seem to be appropriate. The nightstand may take the form of a folding tray table or an accent table with a drawer.
Many bedrooms do not have ceiling light fixtures. Rather, mood lighting is considered more suitable, and numerous outlets are likely to be found around the room to enable lamps to be placed randomly. Popular with the younger set are floor lamps, and for the more romantic minded bachelor, mood lighting in the form of rope lights.
